DIWALI Celebrations on Leicester's Gold Mile

Rangoli Pattern Die and Little Diva's

Last Wednesday, my children and I took a trip along the Melton Road, awash with sights and sounds of a Happy Divali night. The lights shone bright, and the street filled with beautiful music and drumming. Children took great delight in dropping fun snaps onto the road, crackling amongst the crowds. After a wonderful fireworks display, the 30,000 crowd poured back onto the street to celebrate in little restaurants and to shop.
The textile designer in me, was treated to patterns a plenty. Beautiful saris making colourful displays.

oh did I mention the food? Well, that's another story!

A beautiful day in October

Well, end of helf-term marked by a beautiful walk along the towpath at Foxton Locks, Leicestershire. The wonderful sights, sounds and smells of the boats as they pass down the locks, much to the fascination of passerbys.WE LOVE IT.

I love the reward of a hot choc and whippy cream at the lovely pub. If you venture to the Boiler House, you will be treated to the history of the Grand Union Canal. Personally, I am fascinated by the vintage signs and fonts used by British Waterways. Love the vintage colours.

New Boys Fabric by Laura Ashley

SHIP AHOY SAILOR BOY!

Those lovely designers at Laura Ashley have come up with this jolly nautical design. My tickety-boo head immedietely thought how nice the boat clock or name plaque would look in a Laura Ashley boys bedroom. The fabric is 100% cotton. It has matching bedding and curtain fabrics. The fabric is called "On the Sea", and is now in season.Lovely!

Salad Days!

I'm pretty chuffed with this years veg patch offerings. Amused to see a cucumber making it's way down from the roof top veg patch. You don't expect to see a cucumber dangling infront of your window! It's been lovely popping up onto the roof to pick aubergine, courgettes and herbs to make a ratatouilles. We have a pumpkin patch , adding an exciting orange glow amongst the greenery. Trouble is, I could sit up there for most of the afternoon with a cup of tea. Am working on some new designs, ready for Christmas. I do love my studio. Nice to know things are growing above my head as I am working. That's all for now xx
